INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. M-85-029
DATE: April 9, 1985
OBSERVATIONS OF. IMPORTANCE:
1. This was a pre-mine inspection. The operator has recently submi~ted a 112
application. There was no activity on the site at the time of this nspection.
2. The site has had substantial previous disturbance. A portion of this
disturbance on the west side of the proposed permit boundary will no be
included in the permit area. The maps accurately depict the site.
3. The most critical issue on this site will be adequate control of sediment
and runoff into the South Platte River.
4. There has been no topsoil salvage to date, up to one (1) foot co ld have
been salvaged. It may be possible with proper construction managem nt to
salvage some of this topsoil if dredge tails are reworked. Fines fr m
processing.may also be used as possible growth medium.
5. Several dams constructed of 6" material are on the site. These v~ere the
wash-pond dams. On dam is approximately 30' with satuarted fines be ind the
dam. It appears that no off-site damage would occur if there was a failure.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. .The plan should..adequately address drainage and sediment control.
2. The location is adjacent to Alma and there is concern for runoff
adjacent to the town and the location of the town water supply.
rol
PS/yt
Doc. No. 9544
