(Page 2) •
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1983-216
INSPECTION DATE /26/01 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
The purpose of this inspection was part of the Division of Minerals and Geology regular monitoring program. The inspector
was accompanied by Mesa County reprc;sentatives Bud Thompson and Bob Carmen, The Lumsden Canyon Pit permit # M-
1983 -216 is located along the west side of the Dolores River, approximately 1 mile west of Gateway in Western Colorado.
The inspection was conducted at 1:00 p.m. on the 26"' of September, 2001 and the weather was clear.
All signage and bountlary markers were clearly visible.
This site is in the reclamation phase. Contouring of the pit slopes appears to be 3:1 as per the reclamation plan. Some rilling
and minor gullying was noted. Neither had major impacts on the site and seemed to be due to the minimal ground cover.
Continued monitoring by the operator will be needed to negate any negative impacts.
Sparse rain fall this season in this area has lead to small gains in the revegetation efforts by Mesa County. Asters, yellow
clover, and some grasses were noted in disc rows on the slopes. These species appear diverse but of low density. The pit floor
seeding has appeared to have failed. Russian thistle is the overbearing species with some snakeweed. Reseeding efforts
are planned for this fall. An infestation of Russian knapweed was noted in the area adjacent to the east end of this area.
No trash was noted. A large stockpile of material still remains that will have to be removed or used before final release of this
site.
All reclamation efforts appear to meet tfie mining and reclamation plans for this site.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
18 E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME Bud Thompson_ ^ BL
OPERATOR Mesa County p FS
STREET P.O.
