III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE HG Mine `C/lty 29 Oct 04 Page 1/1 Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. This was a partial inspection of the Hayden Gulch Mine conducted by Jim Stark of CDMG. The mine has gone through a Phase I and Phase II Bond Release on all but approximately nine acres. The mine is currently in its tenth year of liability. The weather was cold and cloudy and the ground was covered with a couple of inches of snow. Shrub parcel 003 was covered with snow at the time of the inspection. The parcel was well vegetated and appeared to be stable. There were no erosional problems noted on the parcel. Pond 003 contained water but was not discharging at the time of the inspection. Shrub parcel HG-08 was covered with snow at the time of the inspection. There were no erosional problems noticed on the parcel. The parcel appeared to be stable and well vegetated. The pond contained water and was discharging at the time of the inspection (although the pond is no longer a part of the HG Mine permit. The road to shrub parcel HG-08, parcel E and the 1997 slump area has some minor rutting but remains stable. The road was muddy, wet and covered with snow but remained stable. Shrub Parcel E was covered with snow at the time of the inspection. The parcel was well vegetated and stable and no erosional problems were noted. The 1997 slump area was covered with snow at the time of the inspection. The area was well vegetated and stable. All of the steel stakes placed across the slope remained in alignment. There was no water flowing from any of the drains from the French drain on the slump area. No erosional problems were noted as a result of the runoff this spring. Overall the entire site appeared to be well vegetated and in good condition.
