The site is located approximately 15 miles south of Westcliffe, Colorado and is
adjacent to Hwy 69 and County Road 105. The proposed permit area is located on an alluvial terrace that is
the target of the mining operation. The required notice was posted in a location that is visible to the public.
The permit area is bounded by HWY 69 on the east, Froze Creek on the north and Moss Creek on the west. A
little used county road (CR 105) bisects the deposit approximately 500 feet from the north permit boundary. The
present use of the area is for grazing and the site is typical short-grass rangeland found throughout this area.
The permit area is situated such that the only structure of concern is CR 105. Froze Creek is more than 200 feet
away from the permit area and will not be impacted by this operation. Moss Creek is appears to be an
ephemeral creek at best and does not appear to carry water in most years. It is a very broad flat drainage (1 /4
to Y2 mile across) of which portions are included in proposed affected area. These inclusive areas will not be
mined but may be used for screening, stockpiling, and other ancillary mining activities. With respect the county
road, the operator will obtain a written damage agreement with the county or remain more than 200 feet from
the structure.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Jerald A.
