Glenn Southwick, the
operator and permit holder was also present.
The area which was requested for release was on the north slope of the permit area where
rubble from the mining operation had been cast down slope, some of the rock had slid into
Missouri Creek at the base of the slope. During 2001 the Division approved a Technical
Revision to install a roadway, berm and retaining wall on the slope to keep the rock from
continuing to slide down slope and to stabilize the hillside. Glenn has built the berm and
retaining wall, top soiled the area and seeded it. The vegetation has become well
established and the side appears to be well stabilized. Since the operator does not plan to
mine or otherwise disturb this area, and no erosion or other problems were noted, the
inspector recommends that this portion of the permit area be released.
I & S Contact Address
NAME:
Glenn Southwick
STREET: P.
