III. Comments/Compliance
This was a partial inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the morning of
Wednesday, May 7, 2002. This site itself was quiet and deserted although there were
sheep grazing on the west side of Hubbard Creek. The weather was cool and clear.
Hubbard Creek was running clear, but very low for the season -not quite one cfs. Silt fence
was erected in front of the gate, apparently to discourage the sheep from encroaching on the
mine site. That barrier was trampled down on my way in, but had been raised again by the
time I left.
The path (road) to the upper bench was stable with no erosion. Vegetative growth was
excellent. The upper bench was very green, stable, with no erosion. The lower bench was
also very green, with very good grass growth. There was a wet area at the seep on the west
end of the lower bench, but no other sign of water. None of the underdrains were
discharging, and the ditch was dry.
Ponds 5, 4, and 3 were all dry. The embankments were stable and the discharge devices
clear.
The road up Hubbard Canyon had recently been bladed, with slumped material removed.
All signs were in place and correct.
