III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments in Section IV describe any enforcement actions <br />taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />North Thompson Creek C-1981-025 <br />This was a complete inspection of the North Thompson Creek Mine conducted by Jim Burnell of <br />CDMG on Thursday, 17 May 2006; records were checked and the checklist accompanies this report. <br />The mine site was quiet and deserted. Weather was mild, clear and windy. <br />Availability of Records: All of the necessary records were available at the Garfield County <br />Courthouse in Glenwood Springs. See the records checklist for more detailed information. <br />Roads: The access road to the ponds, portal and flume area were stable at the time of the inspection. <br />There were no ruts or erosional problems noted. The road from the portals to the treatment ponds was <br />stable and well maintained at the time of the inspection. <br />Hydrologic Balance: -The Long Pond contained water at the time of the inspection. The pond <br />appeared to be functioning properly at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems were noted <br />on the pond embankment. <br />North Thompson Creek was running muddy. <br />Water was flowing into the long pond and that facility was functioning smoothly. <br />Pond T-1 contained clear water. Pond T-2 also contained some clear water. There were no erosional <br />problems noted on either embankment. <br />Pond P-9 was stable at the time of the inspection. The pond contained a small amount of water. The <br />embankments were well vegetated at the time of the inspection. There were no erosional problems <br />noted on the embankment. <br />The rip-rapped ditch running down the middle of the site was stable. <br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Pg 2/2 <br />
