This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Minerals and Geology's monitoring program. Present
at the inspection were Carl Mount and Kate Pickford, DMG and Mark Steen, Operator. At the beginning of the
inspection, the following individuals were also present, but did not attend the inspection: George Heard, Tom
Kelley, and Terry Heard, Consolidated Global, and Jim Beck. Weather at the time of the inspection was clear,
breery, and approximately 50 degrees.
2. Mr. Steen provided the following information pertaining to the Mill site. The upland drainage ditch
upgradient of the tailings pond will be cleared out and re-dug. Once the current tailings pond is filled with
tailings, a new, larger tailings pond will be installed in another location and the tailings in the current pond will
be slurried into the new pond. The current pond will then be used for water storage. No processing has
occurred at the site since the site was pup into temporary cessation.
3. There is a pond located at the base of the stockpiles at the site that serves to collect and retain runoff from
the stockpiles. The berm that directs the runoff to the pond needs to be re-established or some other method
needs to be incorporated to assure that all the runoff is directed into the collection area (See problem # 1,
page 2). There is an above ground storage tank at the site. Mr. Steen was odvised that if the tank is used to
store fuel, a berm and liners must be installed to protect the area from spills and leaks.
4. Test wells are located to the east of the mill. Some of the wells in this location are old wells installed by the
Bureau of Reclamation. Mr. Steen stated that they may request to reduce the sampling frequency of the
monitoring wells once activity at the site recommences. A revision requesting a change in frequency would be
submitted to the Division.
5. During the inspection, standing water was observed outside of the entrance to the Hazel A adit, and within
the opening. The water is a result of spring runoff. All of the water currently within the adit is clean according to
Mr. Steen. Mr. Steen indicated that a major cleanup of the site will be pertormed during the upcoming weeks,
prior to recommencing activities at the site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mark Steen
OPERATOR: ITFC Fnvimnmental C'ohrado Inc
STREET: P_O.
