(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1983-106
INSPECTION DATE 07109/2007
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS DEZ
This inspection of Permit Number M-1983-106 {Cheyenne County Pit No. 2) was conducted by Deb E. Zack of the DRMS and
was prompted by a surety release request. No county representative was available for this inspection. The pit is located
approximately 1 mile east of W ildhorse, CO and currently consists of approximately 65 acres, the majority of which appear to
have been reclaimed.
Mine entrance sign and permit boundary markers are all in place, and portions of the site have been fully reclaimed, The site is
stable and no disturbance was observed outside of the approved permit boundaries.
A few Tamarisk plants have become established onsite, mainly on the western portion of the site in areas where pooling of
water has occurred (see Problem #1 on Page 3 and photo 4).
With the exception of the Tamarisk, the Division believes that sufficient time has passed to allow for adequate vegetative cover
to establish on the western portion of the site. However, the surety release request that was submitted to the Division on June
25, 2007 was for a full site release. It has been communicated to the Division since this time, through conversations with
County Administrator Marcy Brossman and the Cheyenne County District 1 Roads Supervisor, that the eastern portion of this
pit is to remain active. This explains the recent disturbance of the topsoil on this portion of the pit (see photo 3), while the
remainder of the permit site has been effectively reclaimed.
The current surety release request will be denied, in lieu of a forthcoming acreage release request. In order for the Division to
approve a newly submitted acreage release request the following items must be completed and/or submitted by
October 31, 2007:
Proof of the Tamarisk cutting and treatment (submission of photographic evidence that this has been
completed for the few plants observed at the western portion of the site).
A complete acreage release request submitted to the Division by October 31, 2007 (including a
revised and updated map clearly delineating the active portion of the site versus the reclaimed
portion).
All other activities and completed work at the time of inspection appeared to follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by
the state and in the mining and reclamation plans for the pit. At the time of this inspection there appeared to be no long-term
(greater than 72 hours) water retention.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Deb E. Zack at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Denver Office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, phone number 303-866-4179.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Marcv Brossman
OPERATOR Chevenne Countv Board of Commissioners
STREET P.O.
