III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Sunlight C-1981-046
Pg 1/1 30 June 05
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Sunlight Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The permit for the site has been revoked and the reclamation was
completed by the Division. The weather was warm and sunny and the ground was
dry.
Signs and Markers: The Division's revoked mine site sign was in place and in good
condition at the time of the inspection.
Hydrologic Balance: The sediment pond was dry at the time of the inspection. The
pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of
the inspection. No erosional problems were noted on the embankment at the time
of the inspection.
Backfilling & Grading: The backfilled areas appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. There was no visible cracking, slumping, settling or sliding of the backfilled
areas at the time of the inspection.
Revegetation/Reclamation Success: The vegetative cover on the site was adequate
to control erosion, as no erosional problems were noted on the site at the time of the
inspection. Overall, the entire site appeared to be stable and in good condition at
the time of the inspection.
