The revision must include mining and reclamation plan maps that illustrate the proposed
mining change and how that area will look after reclamation. C and J will need to contact the
Colorado Division of Water Resources to document that a wildlife pond can be approved at that
location, and indicate that the project is in compliance with Colorado water laws governing injury
to existing water rights. The Division of Water Resources also has specific requirements for
ponds with dam heights in excess of ten feet. Please provide specifications regarding the dam
dimensions and construction, including any outlet features. If the pond is designed not to
discharge, please provide the size of the area that directs water to the pond and demonstrate that
the ponds size is adequate to hold all stormwater runoff from the 10-year/24-hour storm event.
Specifics regarding the clay liner installation must be included in the reclamation plan. These
details must include proposed thickness of the compacted liner and proposed slope grades of the
pre-liner and post-liner pond embankment.
Two copies of the technical revision must be submitted by November 10, 2000 with the
appropriate fee of 5188.00.
C and J's response to the noxious weed control problem is adequate at this time. If the problem
is not under control within two years, additional control methods may be required.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Durango Field Office, 701 Camino Del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, telephone no.
970-247-5062.
Sincerely,
Steve S.
