III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement
actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the
enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado Division
of Minerals and Geology. No one else was present during the field portion of the
inspection. John Weinman of Montgomery Watson represented the operator during the
records check.
Since resuming active status this summer, the loadout has been minimally used for
parking and refueling a haul truck. The gate leading into the office parking area
was unlocked; the other gate was locked. The ground was dry and the weather was
warm.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS
All required records were available at the Montgomery Watson office in Steamboat
Springs. The records checklist is attached.
SIGNS AND ~+aRxFAS
Mine entrance signs, perimeter boundary markers, stream buffer signs, and topsoil
markers were properly displayed.
ROADS
The Tie-across Haul Road was in good shape. The access road in the office area and
Haul Roads 1 and 2 were in good condition.
The skid-mounted diesel fuel tank noted in last month's report remains in the
parking area east of the office. The large storage container has been removed from
that location in the last month.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
Sediment Control Ponda - The water level in the truck loop pond (Pond 1) was
approximately three feet below the top of the drop inlet. The rail loop pond was
dry. Both ponds' inslopes, outslopes, and embankments appeared stable, were not
Bullied, and had sediment markers in place.
SAES
The office/parking lot/leach field SAE is in good shape.
