III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE /1/I,,,,,~ G ~0~~~0
P~Y~- / 16~I~D~ ~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Marr Mine conducted by Jim Stark of CDMG,
John Morrone of BLM accompanied me, The mine has been reclaimed. The
weather was warm, clear and very windy and the ground was dry.
Sians and Markers: The mine ID signs and permit boundary markers were posted and
in good condition at both the mine site and the loadout.
Roads: -The access road to the mine site was dry and stable at the time of the
inspection. There is some minor rutting on the road from access in the mud during
the winter and spring. The road appeared to be well maintained and in good
condition.
- The permanent light use road (former haul road) that remains on the site was also
dry and appeared to be stable. It also appeared to be well maintained and in good
condition. This road also had some minor rutting from being driven on when it was
muddy in the winter and spring.
- The road to the loadout was dry and appeared to be stable and in good condition.
Hvdroloaic Balance: - Pond A was basically dry (it contained a small amount of mud
at the bottom). It was well vegetated and appeared to be stable and in good
condition. It does not appear as though this pond had discharged this spring.
- Ponds B and C were also dry. They were also well vegetated and appeared to be
stable and in good condition.
- Pond D contained water at the bottom several feet below the discharge pipe
and was not discharging and it did not appear as though it had discharged this
spring. The pond appeared to be well vegetated and stable.
- Pond E contained water several feet below the discharge pipe and was not
discharging. There was a fair amount of water on the opposite side of the road
(below the culvert) but the weir just below the pond was dry, so it was not clear
whether it had discharged or not. The pond was well vegetated and appeared
to be stable at the time of the inspection,
- Pond F was dry. The pond was well vegetated and appeared to be stable.
- Pond G was dry. Pond G appeared to be stable and well vegetated.
- All of the roadside ditches appeared to be stable and functioning properly.
- The culverts under the remaining haul road and county road were all clean.
- The pond at the loadout contained water several feet below the discharge pipe.
This pond was well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. It did not appear that this pond had discharged this spring.
- During the 1-1 /2 days of the inspection, John Morrone and I walked to most
(probably about 95%) of the drill holes that remain at the site (in the North
expansion area). All of these boreholes appeared to be labeled correctly based
on the map provided by KCC.
