III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. Ground conditions were dry and the weather was warm and
mild. Ron Thompson represented Basin Resources during the inspection. Bruce and
Eric Addington were also present. This former underground mine site is reclaimed.
Signs and Markers
The underground mining warning signs have been removed in Wet Canyon.
Revegetation
Warm season grasses, blue grama and side oats grama. were beginning to set seed
heads. Annual weeds are abundant on the area immediately over the backfilled mine
portal. This seems to indicate methane is not present in the soil -~n this area.
A few large Scotch thistle plants were noted along the main road anti were
mechanically removed as encountered. Mr. Thompson indicated Canada 1:histle will be
sprayed with herbicide in the early fall. Overall, vegetation on tFre site seems
diverse and the lack of erosion features would indicate satisfactory establishment
for this stage of the bond liability period.
Slides and Damage
The small collapse area/hole on the reclaim should be filled with soil material
prior to the onset of winter.
The site appeared in good condition for mid-summer. No problems were noted.
3
