The alts le located adJaceat to Colorado Highway 145 au the west side sari below the road. <br />Tho azea Is domluated by aspen sari eDrncelflr forest. Slopes vary from Hat to a grade of approximately ISH:IV. The site was sot eutlrely <br />Inspectable due to remalWag accumulatlcua of aucw. However, the majority of the alts was observed. <br />Oue at the Dotter areas at the alts had beau utltlzed by Pathflader for a source of aspen trees [o be vaueplauted ou one of Pathfinder's other proJecta. <br />The holes latt behind hom the Vee excavatlou showed that the topaoll to this Dat area could average IS feet tc 2 feet In depth. Ooly a couple of <br />hales were observed. Pathfinder will used to dig enough teat holes throughout the proposed affected azea to deteruilae If adequate topaoll Is available <br />to replace 6 lathes site wide during reclamatlen. <br />The area ladlcated as wetlauda lu the permit aDDtlcatlou, la a natural drainage that was dammed up by the eoasWCtlon of a DII where the old <br />railroad grade la located. The azea supports a stead of wlllawa, but Is euHering from heavy slltatlon due to erosion of the elopes above. These slopes <br />aze very steep and are nearly devoid of vegetatloa appareatlg due to past dumplog of reject flues from the old Highway Department gravel operatlou <br />adjacent to this site. There was no surface water or springs evident at the tlme at Inapectlon, nor any Indlcatlon of past surface Dawa. <br />There was Rttle Indlcatlon of wildlife utlRzing this site though It locks Wce Ideal habitat for ells, deer and bear. <br />No structures were observed ou the proposed site except for the old railroad grade within which the hydropower conduit Is burled. <br />There aze wide turnouts along the railroad grade that are Dat and aDDeaz to be stable.
