Saletta
Department of Natural Resources
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Bulldog Mine Inspection Report
Dear Mr. Saletta:
In response to your Bulldog Mine Inspection Report dated August 2,
1985, the following activities were undertaken by Homestake Mining
Company:
1. Chemical barrels in the chemical storage area west of the mill
building have been properly stored. The barrels have been placed on
an elevated platform to avoid possible contact with surface water run-
off. This activity was completed by August 30, 1985.
2. The forthcoming permit amendment will include a discussion on
chemical storage and barrel disposal, and a description of the mine
refuse and trash disposal plan. It is anticipated that the amendment
will be submitted within the next two to three months. The Division
will be advised when Homestake determines the actual submittal date
in order to provide adequate lead time. In the interim, the North
Amethyst Project (Equity) ongoing exploration activities are adequately
covered by the Prospecting Notice of Intent on file with the Division.
3. All drainage control ditches and berms at the mine, millsite and
tailings impoundment were inspected, and maintained as necessary.
The drainage control ditch on the east side of the tailings dam was
regraded to assure adequate upland diversion. Construction of the
Windy Gulch culvert diversion has been completed. These activities
were completed by August 30, 1985.
1726 COLE BOULEVARD • GOLDEN, COLORADO 80601 • 1303)2770700
