A site inspection of the Dolezal Gravel Pit was made as part of the Division's on-going 4-year inspection program. The
site is located approximately 5 miles southeast of Big Springs, Nebraska. Mr. Randy Renquist of Sedgwick County was
present during the site inspection.
2. The Dolezal Pit was permitted for a total of 9.9 acres. The mine plan specifies conventional dry mining techniques.
The Dolezal Pit will be reclaimed to rangeland. There is no financial warranty required, per Rule 4.1.2(2), as the operator
is a unit of County Government.
3. The Dolezal Pit is an active pit with an estimated 4.0 acres of disturbance. Topsoil has been salvaged and stockpiled
for future use in reclamation. The operator has done a good job of re-grading the pit walls to a slope of 3:1 where
possible. There was no evidence of exposed groundwater. All disturbances were within the 9.9 acre permit area.
4. An entrance sign and permit boundary markers have been posted as required by Rule 3.1.12.
5. No problems noted. The operator has done an exemplary job of maintaining a "clean" operation. Mr. Renquist was
cooperative and displayed a favorable attitude toward reclamation.
I & E ContactAddress
NAME: Randv Renquist
OPERATOR: Sedgyaick County
STREET: 723 S.
