Echman Park & Mine 1: ve. 2
It is noteworthy that many stock ponds throughout the reclaimed areas held water this late
in the year, particularly during extremely dry summer and fall seasons. The spoil seeps
marked in the field above Pond H only discharge seasonally, and monitoring of TDS
levels show that all seeps/springs have stabilized at acceptable TDS levels. All spoil
springs discharge pass through permanent water impoundments prior [o discharge off the
permit area. Mr. Kaldenbach is conducting a thorough review of the water monitoring
history at these mines.
We continued to the Area 61 portion of the reclamation, and observed spoil
seeps/springs in several locations here, and also observed the pasture reference area. Mr.
Kaldenbach tested all springs/seeps for TDS (elec. conductivity) and pH. We continued
to the Pond A area that receives the majority of the runoff from the reclaimed areas. The
- - pond was riot discharging, and all areas observed appeared stable.
We continued and walked or observed reclaimed areas at Area 7 and the upper portions
of the reclaimed slopes. No excessive erosion was noted. All permanent roadways used
were stable and well maintained. Some stock ponds still held water as noted above, and
pond embankments were stable. There were numerous signs of wildlife utilizing the
reclaimed areas and ponds.
We concluded the inspection by observing the isolated reclaimed blocks between the
mine entrance road and the main facilities. No concerns were noted here.
Please address any questions concerning this inspection report to Henry Austin at
haustin@osmre.sov or to (303) 544-1400 x1466.
