III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted on May 10, 2007 by Mike Boulay
of the DRMS. There was no representative from Honeywood Coal Company present during the
inspection. Weather conditions were sunny and warm. There was no activity at the mine site
during the inspection.
Hvdrologic Balance
Sedimentation Ponds A and B were inspected. Both ponds were dry. Pond inlets and discharge
structures at both locations were in good condition. Pond embankments were stable and well
vegetated. No problems were noted at either of the sediment ponds.
Roads
Roads were dry and in relatively good condition. The access roads to Ponds A and B were
maintained. Culverts were clear of sediment and debris and appeared to be capable of
functioning as intended.
Reclamation Success
No significant erosion features were noted in the reclaimed areas. Vegetation at the site is
greening up, but there are still some brown areas. The site appears stable with no problems
noted.
