North Thomason Creek Mine Phase III Bond Release. ae.4
DRMS will determine if the laboratory results of the Mine No. 3 discharge sampled on
April 18 demonstrates any violation of state or federal effluent limitations. DRMS will
determine if the 4,3 acre developed water resources area, and the remaining areas noted
above that were evaluated during this Phase III bond release inspection qualify for Phase
III bond release. DRMS will inspect the surface lands overlying coal extraction areas
prior to Phase III bond release.
The permittee will show that previous vegetation sampling demonstrating successfully
vegetation establishment included the areas subject to this Phase III bond release. The
permittee must successfully complete the maintenance activities documented during the
inspection. This maintenance activity includes backfilling and seeding of the sinkholes at
the upper end of the refuse pile, and at the settlement of the backfill at the Mine No. 3
portal. The permittee also needs to reclaim the two piezometers located below the refuse
pile. The permittee needs to continue operating the passive water treatment system as
approved in the mine permit.
Please address any questions concerning this inspection report to Henry Austin, Senior
Reclamation Specialist, at haustin(a,osmre.eov or to (303) 844-1400 x1466.
