III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br />inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br />evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado DMG. No one represented the <br />operator during the inspection. The site was partially covered in snow. <br />Roads <br />The road up Hubbazd Canyon was very muddy in spots and snow covered in the upper sections but the <br />road was passable. The road leading to the mine site was clear and in good condition. The light use <br />road that leads to Pond 5 was snow covered but was passable. <br />Signs and Mazkers <br />The mine ID sign was up on the front gate. In addition, the sign that states that the mine records are at <br />the DMG office was also on the gate. The gate was locked. <br />Hydrology <br />There was a little snowmelt in Pond 5, but not up to the dischazge level. Pond 5 was partially covered <br />in snow. The main collection ditch leading into Pond 5 was covered in snow but had sufficient <br />capacity. <br />There was no standing water and only a little snow in Pond 4. The pond embankment was well <br />vegetated and appeared to be stable. <br />The reclaimed coal stockpile area was partially covered in snow as well. The upland diversion ditch <br />was snow covered but appeared to have sufficient capacity. The culvert that takes runoff from this area <br />into Pond 4 was covered in snow. <br />Reclamation <br />The reclaimed mine site hillslope was partially covered in snow. There was a good vegetative cover <br />and there was no evidence of slope or erosional instability. <br />o:/word/blueribbon/insp0306 <br />
