ORIG{NAL - PUBL{C FILE <br />(Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-iaRn_~ee <br />INSPECTION DATE: 6/9/ns INSPECTOROS INITIALS: ~- <br />OBSERVATION <br />The Division conducted a yearly monitoring inspection of the Carlton Tunnel <br />Discharge area. The Division's jurisdiction of the area only relates to the <br />series of ponds stability. The site is covered in the financial warranty <br />for the permit under affected acreage. The site consists of a series of <br />five ponds designed to settle total suspended solids prior to discharging <br />to Four Mile Creek. CC&V has an NPDES permit covering the discharge from <br />CDOH&E. The Division inspects the site once years to make sure the <br />structure of the ponds are in good repair. Ponds were holding water and <br />discharging at the time of the inspection. Embankments stable and well <br />vegetated. Mr. Lawrence Meyers of CC&V was collecting the BI monthly <br />samples as required in their CDOH&E permit at the time of the inspection. <br />While in the area collected the following readings from the High and Low <br />Volume pregnant solution collection systems of the leach pad. <br />Phase I high Volume Solution Collection transducer # 2 was recorded at 38.4 <br />and # 3 was at 36.6. Low volume transducer # 1 was recorded at .10 and # 2 <br />was at .68. Piezometer for the pond was at 37.5 feet. <br />Phase II and III high Volume Solution Collection Transducer # 4 was at 30.4 <br /># 5 was at 31.2 and # 6 was at 31.4. Low volume transducer # 1 was at .13 <br />and # 2 was at.33. Piezometer for the pond was recorded at 32.7 feet. <br />Phase IV High Volume Solution Collection Transducer # 7 was recorded at <br />39.3 # 8 was at 38.2 # 9 was at 39.5 and # 10 was at 339.7.LOw volume <br />solution collection transducer # 1 was at 15.4 and # 2 was 4.3 inches of <br />hydrostatic head. <br />Inspected the External pond, it was holding some rainwater. While in the <br />area, collected the following readings from the low volume solution <br />collection transducers. # 1 was recorded at 12.9 and # 2 was at 10.2 inches <br />of hydrostatic head.
