MINE ID # OR PROSPECTI~ ID#: M-1996-060 • PAGE: 5
INSPECTION DATE: 12-7-00 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ACS
The following problems (PB) and/or possible violations (PV) (and suggested corrective
actions) were identified during this inspection. The problems should be corrected by the
dates given, or they will become possible violations. The possible violations should be
corrected by the dates given to reduce their severity when considered by the Mined Land
Reclamation Board. The inspector noted on the first page of this report should be notified
of all corrective actions taken.
PROBLEMS/POSSIBLE VIOLATIONS
AND
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
PROBLEM PB-1: The topsoil pile located at the south end
of the Firestien Pit was placed with oversteepened side
slopes and is covered with weedy vegetation.
CORRECTIVE ACTION: Slope the topsoil pile to maximum 2:1
(3:1 preferred) and seeding to establish an interim grass
cover. Application of the approved reclamation seed mix and
weed free mulch is recommended. A corrective action date of
May 31 is specified, but the ideal seeding time would be as
soon as possible after the ground thaws. If a spring 2001
seeding is ineffective, reseeding in the fall may be required.
Since the topsoil stockpile is located in the floodplain, it
should be configured as a berm aligned with the river.
CORRECTION
DATE
5/31/01
PB or PV PB
TOPIC(S) TS
