MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1991-104
INSPECTION DATE: 6-19-06
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The inspection was done as a matter of convenience and opportunity as the inspector was
visiting an adjacent site. Therefore, the permitee was not contacted prior to the visit. The Nicolas Pit is located
south of Cimarron on Little Cimarron Road in Gunnison County.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary mazkers are in place and incompliance with Rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located next to the gated entrance. Markers aze fence lines on all sides but the west which daylights
towards the creek bed. As part of an agreement between the adjoining permit holder, the County and landowner, a
stockpile of processed materials that straddles the permit boundary is to be used up by the County. After the
materials are used, the County will reclaim the footprint ofthe stockpile. The details of this agreement are noted in
the permit file.
No recent activity has been noted at the site. No equipment is noted on site. Some small stockpiles of materials are
present along with riprap materials. Slopes are 2:1 or better with no highwalls to speak off.
Currently, some willows and annual weeds with volunteer grasses help keep the site stable and free from erosion and
sedimentation issues. All stormwater appears to be contained within the pit area.
The inspector did note some thistle and mullein within the permit boundaries. It is also noted that there is some
evidence of spraying as some dead thistle in patches were observed. The presents of these noxious weeds is noted
for monitoring purposes only.
No hazazdous materials or fuels are stored on site. Mining related debris is at a minimum.
No problems or issues are noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3`d Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.970-241-
1117.
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: Allen Moores ^ BL
OPERATOR: Gunnison County ^ FS
STREET: 811 Rio Grande ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Gunnison, CO 81230 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
