III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE ~~ /-r/D YJD~
p~~jl ~~,~CD'3b -~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discu si n of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Hayden Gulch Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The mine has gone through a Phase I and Phase II Bond Release on all but
approximately nine acres. The weather was cool and clear and there was still a
considerable amount of snow on the ground (although entry to the site was possible,
the road was quite muddy).
Shrub parcel HG-08 was still covered with snow. There was a fair amount of runoff
from parcel HG-08 into the pond. The area appeared to be stable and no rills/gullies
were seen at the time of the inspection. The vegetation was not visible due to the
snow cover.
Shrub Parcel E was also still covered with snow. The area did appear to be stable,
however, and no erosional problems were noted. The vegetation was not visible due
to the snow cover.
Shrub parcel 003 was muddy but there was no snow. The area remains well
vegetated and much of the vegetation was beginning to turn green. The area was
stable and there were no erosional problems noted. The road to the two exploration
holes was still too muddy to pass.
The 1997 slump area was still covered with snow at the time of the inspection. The
area appeared to remain stable and there did not appear to be any erosional
problems on the slope. Runoff from the area was flowing down the road and
through the remaining roadside ditches (to pond HG-08).
The two remaining ponds (HG-08 and 003) are no longera part of the HG permit.
They are, however, well vegetated and stable and catch all of the runoff from shrub
parcels HG-08, 003 and E and the 1997 slump area.
No wildlife was seen on the site at the time of the inspection. There were numerous
tracks, however, that indicate that deer and elk have been on the site recently.
