ORIGINAL -PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn_1977-573
INSPECTION DATE: ~(2G/05 INSPECTORDS INITIALS: -BIL
OBSERVATION
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site at the request
of the operator on 7/26/05. The site used to be a large 112 sand and gravel
operation that is under going reclamation at the present time. The MLRD
Board to the State Parks Department released a portion of the permit area
in 2005.AS reported in the past inspection report dated 2/18/05, the site
as apart of the approved reclamation plan by the State Engineer is
constructing a clay lined dam along the Arkansas River so they can complete
the reclamation of the West pit. The operator had planned to complet the
task by the end of June. Due to other commitments in their other operation
and the slight problems the operator encountered completing the clay lining
of the South Eastern corner due to water seepage from two sides, operator
requested to have the site inspected and extend the completion date to
October 31, 2005.
At the time of the inspection two compactors, a small dozer and a scarper
were being utilized to seal the face along the Arkansas River. Operator was
also utilizing two pumps to pump out the water from the seep area and
placing it into a detention basin before it is discharged to the River.
Only 700 lineal feet and an additional 500 feet that was already placed but
did not meet the compaction requirement is left and operator plans to
complete the task by the end of October. The already completed clay lined
area was stable and no leakage was noted. Given the progress of the work
and the difficulty the operator had to go through to complet the task, the
Division extends the completion date to 10/31/05.
I & E Contact Address All overburden/ topsoil
r BL
NAME: MR GERALD HERMANS r FS
r HW
OPERATOR: TRANSIT MIX OF PUEBLO r HMWMD (CH)
STREET: P_n RnX Rh7 r
r SE
CITY/STATE/ZIP: PIIFRI (~.
