(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1995-004
INSPECTION DATE: 03/20/2006 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: RMW/CBM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted in response to the operator's request for a Technical Revision to the existing mining
plan and as part of the Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) monitoring program. Present at the inspection were
Richard Wenzel and Carl Mount from the DMG and Billy Clark and Bill Underbrink from Grand County Department
of Road and Bridge.
The Inspiration Point Pit is located approximately 9.5 miles southwest of Kremmling, Colorado on County Road 107.
A steel gate secured the entrance to the site and a sign was posted identifying the site as the Inspiration Point Pit.
Permit boundaries were not clearly marked. See Problem 1 on the following page foradditional details. Topsoil was
stockpiled along the north, south and west sides of the site. A moderate amount of vegetation was growing on the
topsoil stockpiles. A steep, west-facing slope bordered the east side of the site. The north half of this slope
consisted of a highwall approximately 50 feet high. The south half of this slope consisted of unmined material that
had been placed against the highwall to help reduce sloughing of material from above. However, past sloughing in
this area has resulted in a scarp that may or may not be within permit boundaries, and will need to be stabilized in
the near future. See Problem 2 on the following page for additional details. Along the south side of the site, the
current mining slope is estimated to be approximately 3:1 (H:V). At the time of this inspection, several inches of
snow covered the slope but a moderate amount of vegetation was visible. The bottom of the pit was flat and free of
vegetation. No pools of standing water were observed, however, several areas appeared wet due to the recent
snowfall. A large stockpile of processed material was observed in the northwest comerof the site nearthe entrance.
Numerous piles of what appear to be fill material were observed in the northeast corner of the site adjacent to the
highwall. County Road 107, which originally traversed the site in a northwestfsoutheast direction, has been rerouted
from its original location so that it now runs parallel to the western boundary of the site west of the topsoil stockpiles.
No active mining was in progress during this inspection and no equipment was on site. The site appeared neat and
orderly and was free of trash and debris. Problems noted during this inspection are described above and on the
following page.
Enforcement and Inspection Contact Address
NAME:
OPERATOR:
Billy Clark
Grand County
STREET: 467 E.
