FPM
Mr. James B. McArdle
August 12, 1983
Page 3
f. 40,000 yards in the plant area now being used as
terraces.
g. 2,000 yards along the south property line in the p..ant
area. This represents the initial work of the above
mentioned stockpile and will be completed by the frill
of 1984.
h. 100,000 yards in the south side of the plant area.
Total 208,000 yards3
As you mentioned in your letter there is a considerable
amount of overburden on the property and as mentioned
above we plan to store the bulk of the reclamation soils
along the plant perimeter. We anticipate that through
the life of this operation there will always be an ample
amount of soils available for reclamation. As you requested
I am enclosing a map depicting the location of storage areas.
The photo enclosed in the 1983 annual report was an oblique
photo and there is considerable distortion from ea~ot to west.
The disturbed Ac should be 97Ac. I will take more care in
the future reports to better represent the actual disturbed
area.
8) I don't know why there has been some confusion over the retention
ponds. Pond -0tl is the one you refer to in item 6 (Observations
of Importance), which is of sufficient size to retain a minimum
of 1.6 acre feet of water.
Pond I12 is on the quarry floor and if I remember correctly you
took a picture of it on the day of your inspection. I would
be happy to meet with you at the site and go over the location
of this structure. As mentioned in the mining plan, the locations
will vary and it is anticipated that when the plant gradE~ reduction
is completed Pond I/1 will be located in the southwest corner of
the plant area. Sdithin the next two years Pond lk2 will tie moved
to another location on the ouarry floor. [Je are presently looking
at the southwest corner of the floor. Idith each of thesE~ moves
attention will be given to the sizing and construction a<; per the
mining plan.
