`' ~ ~ (Page 2)
MINE ID / OR PROSPECTING ID ~ M-B8-081
INSPECTION DATE 6 9 94 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GSC
OBSERVATIONS
This 1.94 acre permit was inspected with the operator, Mr. Harry Covey. This operation
consists of an 8 foot long ad it in an east facing elope. The land use is residential and
multi-acre hcmesites are located in the general area. A dry gulch croesee the permit area
from west to east.
The permit sign and markers were in place and top soil and ore stockpiles were situated along
the northern portion of the permit. The powder and primer magazines are located uphill and
west from the mine area in concrete and metal bunkers. Pursuant to the storm-water
management plan for this site, berms and diversion ditches have been installed north and
south of the mine which carry drainage from the west around the adit, ore stockpiles and
facility area. The only structure is a small shed in the facility area east of the adit.
There ie no water in this ad it. The portal ie cut into the east facing hillside below
approximately 8 feet of decomposed granite which underlies about 3 feet of topsoil and
subsoil. The area above the portal is fenced for security and is being stabilized with a
wood frame. The mine follows a westerly trending vein in apparently un-mineralized granitic
country rock. Ore is stockpiled near the adit entrance where it ie broken by hand and high
graded. The remainder is stored in the northern facility area. The ore stockpile consisted
of about 10 to 15 cubic yards of material. It appeared to contain at moat, trace levels of
pyrite and a metallic mineral in quantities lees than 19 ( according to Mr. Covey this ie
sylvanite containing gold, silver and tellurium). Hr. Covey said that all material mined ie
ore grade and thus no waste rock ie stockpiled.
The bond amount of $1,500 is the maximum allowed for a 110(1) permit and is adequate for this
site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Harry D.
