• (Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-80-249
INSPECTION DATE June 17, 1997 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS TAS
OBSERVATIONS
1. A follow-up inspection was conducted to the previous inspection of 12/13/96 by the
Division.
2. The primary Eocus of the inspection was to evaluate and discuss the current reclamation
plan and its feasibility given the current site conditions. As noted in the previous report,
this inspector noted a concern with respect to erosion along the planned 3:1 slope in the
north half of the permit area. Rills along the existing disturbed slope noted during the
previous inspection have progressed into gullies following the recent storm events. However,
it should be noted that the existing erosion is well within the permitted area and poses no
threat to the stability of adjacent land.
3. The merits of operating with an amended mining and reclamation plan vs. continuing with
the existing plan were discussed with the operator. During the next few months the operator
will be evaluating the feasibility of an amended plan. In the event that the operator
desires to amend the existing plan, the first step will be for the operator to submit an
application for a permit amendment with revised mining and reclamation plans. There will
also be a required application fee of $575 for the amendment,
I & E Contact Address
NAME Charles W. Houchin
OPERATOR Houchin, Inc.
STREET P.O.
