III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE (7S~
P~ ~ ~fk+~vj c~°
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Twin Pines Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The bond for this site has been forfeited after reclamation was completed.
The weather was warm, overcast and there were scattered showers during the
inspection.
The coal sales/tipple area was well vegetated and in good condition. The area does
not appear to have been grazed this summer so the vegetation is fairly dense. There
did not appear to be any erosional problems at the coal sales/tipple area. The
remaining pond contained a small amount of water and the embankment
appeared to be well vegetated and in good condition. There were no erosional
problems noted on the pond embankment. The access road is a county road and it
is well maintained and in good condition.
The portal area was also well vegetated and in good condition. The vegetative
cover at the portal area is good. The road to the portal area is showing some minor
erosional problems (minor rills) but is in overall good shape. The road is filling in with
vegetation because it is no longer being used. The remaining highwall still appears
to be stable and in good condition. The remaining pond was dry. The pond
embankment was well vegetated and no erosional problems were noted.
Overall both areas at Twin Pines are well vegetated in good condition. There are no
erosional problems at either part of the site.
