III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any
enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the Trinidad Basin Mine for the month of
December, 1996. The permit was revoked and the bond was forfeit at this
site.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: Snow is still blanketing the site, therefore nothing
of significance could be seen. The three ponds nearest the shop building all
had water in them but none were discharging. Ponds at the upper site on the
south end all had snow in them but no water could be seen. The site is
reasonably stable and should make it through the winter without any
significant erosion.
ROADS: The access road to the south east ponds is totally covered with snow
and should remain stable for the remainder of the winter. Although not
plowed, the north access road appears to be passable and stable.
