(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M- 1987-178
INSPECTION DATE: 8/30/04 INSPECTOR'S INITfALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The 31 Road Pit is located on a mesa terrace above the Colorado River at 31 and C %2
Roads. Alan Parkerson, representative for Pazkerson Construction was present for the inspection.
The 31 Road Pit was active during this inspection. Excavation, screening and stockpiling were observed.
Excavation is primarily along the eastern edge the pit with cleanup in selected areas of the pit floor. Depending on
where the excavation was occurring greatly influenced dust created by the screening and stockpiling. Overall, the
operator appears to be doing everything possible to reduce dust. However, in some areas, loose silt was producing
more dust than materials from other areas of the pit. If possible, the dry silty material should be wet down better
prior to disturbing.
The operator has established an estimated 1200 feet ofreclaimed slope along the southern pit edge. Slopes appear to
be 3:1, topsoiled and have some vegetation. Grasses species are sparse but present. Wheatgrass and brome were
noted. The primary vegetation at this time is annual weeds such as kochia and Russian thistle. All slopes are stable
and free of erosion. No noxious weeds were noted in this azea, but elsewhere some knapweed was observed within
the permit azea. The operator has a weed plan that is active and new infestations will be treated this fall. It may be
worth the operator's time to experiment with some other grass species to see if others will do better than those
originally approved.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary mazkers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located at the main gate entrance. Boundaries aze delineated in a clear fashion.
Topsoil and overburden have been stockpiled separately and vegetation helps protect from erosional elements.
No stormwater, sedimentation or off-site impacts were observed.
The Financial Warranty was reviewed and increased in April of 2002. No significant changes are noted that would
indicate a review is necessary at this time.
No problems or issues are noted.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Once, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: Alan Parkerson ^ BL
OPERATOR: Parkerson Construction ^ FS
STREET: 710 S. 1516 Street ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Grand Junction.
