a. The Shelter Belt:
This consists of a 3 row buffer/windbreak about
1,000 feet long around the Westerly portion of
the landscaped area as shown on Exhibit .F, Reclama-
tion Plan Map (Revised), Tree and Shrub Planting.
The 3 rows in this belt are spaced about 16 feet
apart to minimize competition of the plants for
moistur•~ and nutrients, and to provide sufficient
room for use of machinery for cultivation. The
3 rows consist of a Shrub Row, a Deciduous Row
and a Conifer Row as shown on Exhibit F, Reclama-
tion Plan Map (Revised), Tree and Shrub Planting.
(1) Shrub Row•
Species in the shrub row will consist of in-
te:cspersed Caragana, Lilac, Plum, Nanking
Cherry, and Rocky Mountain Juniper. Plants
will be spaced in the row at a distance of 4
to 6 feet depending•upon species.
(2) Deciduous Row:
Species in the deciduous row will consist of
in=erspersed Russian Olive, Honeylocust, Ash,
and Hackberry. Plants will be spaced in the
ro~o at a distance of 10 to 14 feet depending
upon species.
(3) Conifer Row:
Spt:cies in the conifer row will consist of
Colorado Blue Spruce, Ponderosa Pine and
Eastern Red Cedar. Plants will be spaced in
they row at a distance of 8 to 12 feet depend-
in, upon species.
b. The Picnic Area:
About 22 trees will be planted in this area to pro-
vide shade and shelter in and around the 4 picnic
sites. 11 of these will be deciduous species con-
sisting of Hackberry, Ash, and Honeylocust; the
other 11 will be conifers consisting of Colorado
Blue Spruce and Ponderosa Pine. The trees have
been located close to each picnic site to maximize
shade and shelter.
