The site is a large 112 sand and
gravel operation that covers approximately 149 acres. The site was granted
an intermittent status in 2000, in accordance with the Construction
Materials Rules and Regulations. According to the operator it is only
utilized on as need basis. The active portion of the pit slopes appeared to
be at approximately 3:1 as with the case with soil types noted on site,
there were some rills and small gullies noted, which would naturally occur
even if there was no mining taking place. All of the drainage is towards
the pit and captured with in the affected area. The reclaimed slopes
appeared stable and vegetated with small rills as noted earlier in the 3:1
slopes of the active mining face area. Pit floor was holding some water
from the recent rain fall the area received. Top soil piles located along
the North West side of the pit area was properly protected and stable.
Permit sign and boundary markers properly posted. Approximately 15 acres
appeared to have been disturbed. The permit is in compliance with the
approved reclamation plan.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: MS LYN BROWNFIELD
OPERATOR: _ KIT CARSON COUNTY
STREET: R ~ Rix un
CITY/STATE/ZIP: RI1RI INC;TnN, C(~I (~RAI~C) ROR07-0160
CC:
Harry Posey (e-mail)
cc: r CE
All overburden/ topsoil
r BL
r FS
r HW
r HMWMD (CH)
r
r SE
r WQCD (CH)
r OTHER
