COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE MN~~ ~~~~~
('~Y a ~ oce- o d- ~~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Marr Mine conducted by Jim Stark of CDMG. The
mine has been reclaimed and has undergone a Phase I bond release for the entire
site and a Phase II bond release for the 720 Pit and Pit 1. The weather was cool and
overcast ground was dry.
Signs and Markers: All of the necessary signs were posted at the mine site and
loadout (Mine ID signs, topsoil stockpile signs, permit boundary signs, etc.).
Roads: -The access road to the loadout was well maintained and in good condition.
-The permanent light use road (former haul road) that remains on the site is also well
maintained and in good condition. Some minor rutting remains on the road but it
does not appear to be a problem. There are no erosional problems on the road.
Hvdroloaic Balance: - Pond A was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good
condition.
- Pond B was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond C was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond D was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond E was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond F was dry. It was well vegetated and in good condition.
- Pond G was dry. It was well vegetated and in good condition.
- All four of the permanent drainages (PD1 and PD2 in the 720 Pit, PD3 in Pit 1 and
PD4, also in Pit 1) were well vegetated and in good condition, None of the
drainages showed any signs of erosion.
-The pond at the loadout was dry. The pond was well vegetated and in good
condition.
-The culverts under the remaining permanent light use road were clear and appeared to be
functioning properly.
-All of the exploration wells (with the exception of well DH-5) have been sealed. I visited most
of the sites and the contractor has done a good job in sealing the wells and has cause
minimal disturbance to the surrounding, undisturbed areas. The areas where the wells were
sealed were backfilled, raked and seeded. There are still several piles of debris (old tires, well
casing, concrete bags, etc.) that need to be removed from the site.
Fish and Wildlife: There was no wildlife observed on the site at the time of the
inspection.
Reveaetation/Reclamation Success: The entire mine site has been revegetated. The
vegetative cover looked good. KCC needs to monitor the revegetation of the
recently reclaimed exploration holes to ensure that no problems arise.
