• (Page 3)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-79-140
INSPECTION DATE 07/29/98
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
during mining too, There is a drainage trench cut into the floor at the toe of the north and
west walls. It drains irrigation seepage toward the south end, which appears to percolate
into the floor without needing a pond to collect it.
The present pit floor is at approximately the final grade will be. Topsoil is stockpiled
along the east side, adjoining the highway right-of-way, in a large stockpile. New material
is being added on its north end. Material is placed by loaders, compacted, and seeded.
There ie some weediness, but not excessive. There is no erosion, and only minor sloughing
where material has been taken from the toe of the pile.
The crusher has produced about 10,000 to 20,000 cubic yards now piled in the pit. Much of
it will be used in asphalt production. The crusher operation produces nearly no dust,
through the five spray bars employed. Fuel tanks onsite are earth bermed. The asphalt plant
will be moved soon to another county pit. There was a small pile of reject asphalt and loose
asphalt used on a haulage way onsite, which will be disposed of at the time of reclamation.
There was no sign of material contamination by fuel spillage.
The site is well run, with a minimum of debris, mining related parts or junk, and very few
weeds. The mining and processing are carried out in a careful, orderly fashion. There were
no problems observed, and no other items discussed or noted during the inspection.
For all questions or comments pertaining to this report, please contact this inspector at the
address or phone shown below:
Division of Minerals and Geology
484 Turner, Bldg.
