Kathy
and Andy Weber accompanied the DMG inspector throughout the inspection. The Weber Pit No.
2 is approved for 50.94 acres affected area. DMG holds 570,753 financial warranty. Mild snow
cover of approximately 2" depth was present. Operations were active.
Records The original permit was issued on 9/18/95 to Weber Sand & Gravel, 50.94 acres
affected area, financial warranty was set at 570,753. On 5/21/99, DMG approved SO-01,
transferring the permit from Weber Sand & Gravel, to Weber Sand & Gravel, Inc. (name change).
DMG records do not indicate additional modifications to the permit.
Sign & Markers Mine identification sign was posted at the entrance gate. Public access to the
mine site is controlled by locked gate. Affected area perimeter markers were posted. Mining
activities appeared confined to approved areas.
Mining & Reclamation Plan The permit indicates a phased mine and reclamation plan. Phase I
consists of 33.94 acres. Phase II consists of 17 acres. Affected areas will be reclaimed to support
rangeland post mining land use, final slopes will not be steeper than 3H:1 V. Mine access road is
permanent.
Pit Area Mine entrance road was gravel surfaced and well maintained. Mining operations have
approached completion for the phase I area and have commenced topsoil salvage from a portion
of the phase II area. The operator indicated that approximately 12 acres of lands approved to be
affected under phase I will not be affected. Reclamation grading had commenced for portions of
the phase I area. Topsoil was being stockpiled in various locations of the phase I area, in
preparation for reclamation. Vegetative cover was intact for the topsoil stockpiles not recently
disturbed. Stormwater containment berms appeared intact.
Financial Warranty DMG has estimated the current cost of reclamation to total 547,344.
Therefore, the existing 570,753 financial warranty is sufficient to ensure reclamation. Please find
enclosed, copy of DMG 2/28/00 reclamation cost estimation.
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
cc: Tom Gillis, DMG
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WOCD (CH)
