III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations <br />made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during <br />the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This aerial inspection was flown on April 13, 2001. The digital images were available on April <br />16, 2001. Due to vacation and workload, the digital images were not reviewed until May 11, <br />2001. There were no compliance problems observed during the overflight. <br />Reclamation <br />The demolition of sttvctures continues at the main mine. Material is being stored on the <br />crusher/screener bench for later shipping. <br />The backfilling and grading of the West Portal bench also continues. Three bulldozers, one <br />excavator and a compactor were on site. Sediment control structures were in place and were <br />functional. There was a moderate amount of water in the pond, several feet below discharge. <br />West Ridee Waste Pile <br />There were no recent additions of refuse to the waste pile. <br />Slope Stability <br />There were no signs of geotechnical instability with any of the cut and fill slopes. <br />Topsoil <br />There were no signs of erosional instability at the West Portal topsoil stockpile. <br />Roads <br />The main mine site road appeared to be passable. <br />c:\ms97\bowie 1\insp0401 <br />
