King IDitches - The rock-lined 100-year clear-water ditch on the east side of the King I facilities area <br />was in good shape. The inlet to the clean water culvert on the south end of the King I facilities area <br />was cleaz. The Swale in the haul road and the Swale on the east side of the east pond were in place. <br />Sediment traps on the sides of the main haul near the mine entrance were in good repair. <br />King II Ditches -Part of the clean water ditch has been constructed along the west side of the surface <br />disturbance. Rock for riprap is stockpiled and ready for installation in the ditch. It appeared that all <br />runoff from the disturbed area would either flow to the sediment pond, or is in a small area exemption <br />that has alternative sediment control in place. <br />Monitoring Wells - The steel enclosure on the wellhead of the Wiltze alluvial monitoring well <br />appeazed to be in good condition. The housing of the King II alluvial well appeared in good shape, as <br />seen from County Road 120. <br />Processing Waste <br />The waste pile at King I showed no evidence of structural instability. The top surface of the pile was <br />dry and it slopes gently back, away from the face of the pile, as designed. During the inspection, one <br />truck load of coaly waste rock from the King II portal excavation was hauled to the waste pile <br />(approved in TR-11). <br />Suaaort Facilities <br />King I -Fuel tanks in the surface facilities azea showed no signs of leaks or spills, and have adequate <br />spill ban•iers in place. No problems were found in the surface facilities azea. <br />King II -Other than earthwork and the pond, no structures have been constructed or installed. A <br />temporary office trailer was on site. <br />Topsoil <br />King I -Growth medium for this prelaw site is stockpiled south of the waste pile. <br />King II -Topsoil continues to be removed and is being stockpiled on the west side of the pond, as <br />approved. <br />General Mine Plan Compliance <br />No problems were found on the King I and II Mines. Operations appeared to comply with the <br />approved mine plan. Underground operations and surface disturbances appeazed to be confined to the <br />areas in the approved mine plan. <br />ReveQetation <br />No weed problems were found at either King I or King II. <br />Air Resource Protection <br />There was no fugitive dust problem at either King I or King II during the inspection. <br />4 <br />
