MPLIANCE
Below are comments on the rnspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. This former underground mine is reclaimed. Remaining buildings
and structures are approved to remain as permanent structures. The weather was cool and
ground conditions were very dry.
Availability of Records
The public copy of the mine records is kept at the Clerk and Recorders office at the Las
Animas County Courthouse. The operator has placed up-to-date copies of records that were
not on file at the last complete inspection. The 2002 Reclamation Report was not located
and current water monitoring records were also not found current. Please file copies of
these records as soon as possible.
Roads
The mine operator has recently re-surfaced the access road from the entrance from the I-25
frontage road to the shop area. This new surfacing appeared 6-S inches thick in most
places. The landowner, Mr. A.J. luppa seemed pleased with the work that was conducted.
~~
:' __ _ ~
~: ~` ~
~_•
,,
Raton Cr<~+:•k mine -access road -November 2003
