.~.rNie..~. C
III. Revegatation: to be completed within five years after permanent
cessation of mining operations. Revegatation species were
chosen for their palatability, and ability to withstand 9rought,
slight salt conditions and adverse soil conditions. The species
selected are at times unavailable due to present lack of desaand.
It is expected that in the future these species xill be more
readily available. Future technology and our own experiioental
plots may suggest future changes in the chosen species. All
seeding will be by the broadcast method and planted in bite fall.
After seeding, the surfaces will be dragged to provide a ~iomimal
c~•r~rage of aoi!. All ~eedira, rates are bawd cn pure 1::ce
seed and broadcast seedin3 met.`,ods. The mixture is as follows:
Crested Hheatgrass 6 ~/acre
Sand Dropseed .2 ~//acre
Indian Ricegrass 1.5 M/acre
Hest=rn Hheatgrass 2.6 ~/acre
Four Wing Saltbush 5.3 ~/acre
Although the Crested Hheatgras~ is not a native it is assumed
that the native species will take over. The Four Hing Salt-
bush provides excellant browse for deer, cattle and other xild-
Life as well as shelter for small wildlife species. The mixture
of grasses will grow and mature at different times ~f the year
to allow for the variabilities of the B.L.tA. grazing permits.
Nost lands are grazed from 1lovember thru lSay, but not always on
an every year basis.
Soil ammendments are rot planned at this time as waste materials
indicate they will s~ipport plant growth as Ammonium Nitrate
blasting underground lea•res .3 useable nitrate residue. `i~~we•rer
future tests and conditions may warrant the addition of s~~il
ammendments. Replantinv will be implemented if necessary.
