r.~/
Accumulated sediment has been removed from pond MB-4 and placed on the refuse pile.
Normal ditch and culvert maintenance activities will be necessary for most locations about the
site. In addition, MCC is working to replace previously buried culverts and pipes with culverts
and pipes which ride upon the ground surface. This is an on-going process. Buried culverts and
pipes suffer damage and separation during earth movement processes. These damaged or
sepazated drainage structures then contribute additional runoff and water to already saturated and
unstable soils, thus exacerbating the problem.
Sunoort Facilities
MCC was working within the Sylvester Gulch drainage to install two inclinometers and several
piezometers. This work is being done in order to collect additional site specific data concerning
the stability of facilities to be constructed within the drainage area in accordance with PR-07.
Revegetation
The out slope of the materials storage bench has been seeded in the past few field seasons. At this
point it is difficult to ascertain whether those efforts have been successful. It was noted, however,
that there is some soil erosion and transport occurring. Silt fences were paced along the contour
in the past and appear to be assisting in preventing erosion. It is apparent, however, that
additional soil stabilization measures will be needed during this field season.
Slides & Damaee
Within the past few weeks a small slide has occurred within the cut slope above the materials
storage bench. The material bulge at the base of the slide has pushed out the concrete barriers on
the uphill side of the road which accesses the bench. MCC is investigating the cause of the
movement and will pursue repair and remediation measures.
Within the past few days a slide has occurred in the area below the warehouse and above the silos.
The slide has affected the northern half of the roadway base which traverses this area. The
affected roadway is barricaded as a safety precaution.
Additional landsliding and movement has occurced immediately below the main portal bench.
This slide has affected the outer edge and out slope of the bench.
Landsliding activity has also occurced above the access road to the Lone Pine fan.
Reclamation Success
Drill roads and old access roads in the Lone Pine drainage area were previously reclaimed by
MCC. It appears that those reclamation efforts have been successful.
