III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The weather on this day was warm and mild. The Rimrock
Mine consists of approximately seven acres of reclamation.
Hydrologic Balance
The lone sediment pond held a small amount of water. The water appeared murky
with small floating debris on the surface. The surrounding ground surface
indicated an intense storm event, probably within the last few days. The pond may
have discharged through the trickle tube spillway, although at the time of the
inspection, the level was some two feet below the trickle tube invert. Adjacent
Engleville Gulch was not flowing.
Revegetation
The growing season is nearly over. Grasses have "dried down" following seed
production. Some cattle were grazing the site. while others were outside the
perimeter fence. The landowner should be contacted regarding grazing during the
next two years. The revegetated area appears generally in good condition and does
not appear to be over-grazed at this time.
Overall the site appeared in good condition for late summer.
3
