Rimrbck Coal Company
do Landmark Reclamation
4901 S. Windermere St.
Littleton, CO 80120
C-89-074
Rimrock Strip
4/17/97
Complete oversight inspection
Mitchell S. Rollings, 370, OSM
Kent Gorham, DMG
Rimrock Strip is a very small contour strip operation that has completed backfilling and grading,
retopsoiling, and revegetation activities. Approximately 38 acres were permitted and only l 1.12
were disturbed. Phase I bond release was granted on 9.55 acres in January 1994, reducing the
$62,000 bond to $31,000. ltimrock has a corporate surety bond with American Casualty
Company for this amount dated 2/14/94.
The insurance certiScate is current for the time period of 7/3/96 to 7/3/97.
The NPDES permit, #COG-850030, expires 6/30/97. The DMR's for the first quarter of 1997
showed no discharge. The only sedimentation pond for the permitted area was last inspected and
reported on by the company on 1/30/97 and the pond was in compliance. The pond was certified
on 11/15/95. Groundwater monitoring was terminated in January 1995.
The site is in good condition. Vegetation has been established on the backfilled area, but
revegetation of the diversion and pond has not been as successful. There is a small area of what
appears to be settling along the reclaimed highwall line or the upper limit of disturbance. This
settling is not in violation; no wall is exposed.
