III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE /E ~ ~ ~/ ~3 ~
~ y a ~7z+~ Do
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observation
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the GEC mine conducted by Jim Stark of the CDMG.
The bond for this site has been forfeited and reclamation was completed by DMG.
The weather was warm and clear and the ground was dry.
The Orphan Pit/Duck Pond/Tipple Areas were all well vegetated and in good
condition, The vegetation was a bit brown due to a lack of precipitation but it looks
the same as all of the vegetation in the area. There are no major erosional problems
at this site. The access road to this site is the Corley Mountain Ranch Road. It is well
maintained and in excellent condition.
The riprap placed in the upper drainage and gullies of the East Pit appears to be
stable at this point. Although there have not been any major storm events at the site,
according to AI Weaver of the Southfield Mine, The haul/access road has some ruts
but overall it appears to be in good condition. The vegetation in the East Pit is sparse
but there does not appear to be any new erosional problems.
The West Pit is well vegetated and in good condition. The vegetation in the West Pit
is also a bit brown due to the lack of precipitation in the area. There does not
appear to be any new erosional problems in the West Pit, either.
