The entire site has
been disturbed by mining leaving no indication of the previously noted knapweed patches.
The topsoil piles, though located right adjacent to the permit boundary, have not slumped across the boundary. These
stockpiles do not support much stabilizing vegetation but appear to be stabilized by crusting over the surface.
A shop with office, deck, alternate access road, several concrete footer pads, propane tank, electricity, lawn, fuel tanks, and
water spigots have been located on the southeast corner of the site. These features were added into the permit through
approval of Technical Revision No. 1 in 2003. The post mining land use for this site is rangeland with residential use for the
southern portion where the shop/residence is located.
The two above ground fuel storage tanks located on the north side of the shop, noted in the previous inspection report, have
been removed.
The pit slope on the east side of the shop has been graded to a slope of 3:1 or less and vegetated.
The pit is currently active. Mr. Botti indicated he was crushing and stockpiling approximately 60,000 tons of material at this
time. He indicated that would leave approximately 40,000 tons to completely mine out the pit. Mr Botti indicated he may be
interested in changing the post-mining land use to residential home sites for the north portion of the pit. This would require
submittal and approval of an amendment to the application. Without reasonable assurance that the residential land use will be
implemented, DMG will still require the reclamation plan and reclamation bond include account for revegetation of the site.
Technical Revision No. 1 tlesignated the residential area on the south side of the site and indicated that would be removed
from the permit. A release request for this portion of the site has yet to be submitted. DMG will be updating the reclamation
cost estimate within the next few weeks. This estimate will include costs for reclamation of the residential area on the south
half of the site if an adequate release request for that portion is not submitted by March 10, 2006. The release request must
meet the requirements of Rule 4.17 and should refer to and include information and the map from Technical Revision No. 1
documenting the area to be released and the reclamation performed there.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243-6368.
I & E Contact Address cc: Carl Mount -DMG Denver Office
^ CE
NAME Andrew J Botti ^ BL
OPERATOR A.
