Comments also describe eery <br />enforcen~erd actions fala:n during tite'arspeclion and the leas of eNderwe supporting tix enforcemetd action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Janet Binns of Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. Rick <br />Mills of CYCC accompanied the inspection. Weather was clear, mild and dry. Grasses are curing and <br />temperatures aze getting cool during the night. This was a surface mine that has been reclaimed. Sampling <br />has been conducted for Phase II bond release. CYCC plans to submit Phase II bond release application to <br />the Division this Fall. <br />Sims and Markers: Operator cominues to define disturbance area limits. Additional markers are needed at <br />the Mine No. 1 area. Mine ID signs are posted and in compliance. <br />Hydrologic Balance: Permanent drainage PG 1-2 was walked. This drainage has held up well through out <br />the season. Stockpond t-B was in good condition. Ditch G-1 shows no sign ofdown-cutting or breaching. <br />PDl-2B appears in good condition. Rock check dams along PG 1-2 remain functional. PGl-1 is well <br />vegetated and shows noi~gn of downcutting or breaching. Contour ditches along Mine No. 1 hillslope <br />remain ip good condition. No evidence of breaching or gullying was observed. Pond H continues to hold a <br />shallow pool of water. No discharge was occurring at the time of the inspection. Repairs to the discharge <br />structure have not occurred. CYCC is waiting receipt of a flume from the supplier. <br />Spoil springs remain flowing though not in measurable amounts. <br />Fish and Wildlife: Numerous Marmot dens were noted. Bare patches of limited extent (~20 sq.ft.) denote <br />the Marmot den entrances. No erosive features were associated with these bare patches. One injured calf <br />elk was observed on the site. One raptor was observed soaring over the mine site. <br />Revegetation: Vegetation in the Mine No. 1 is in good condition. Vegetative community is dominated by <br />alfalfa, smooth brome grass, wild rye, and assorted wheatgrasses. Mine No. 1 was grazed this summer. <br />Grazing was managed and excessive grazing was not allowed to occur. No erosive features were noted. <br />Reclamation Success: No problems were observed in the permanem drainages, stockponds, or vegetation at <br />the Mine No. 1 azea. Repair to the Pond H discharge flume neeeds to be completed. Submittal of the <br />Proposed Bond release application needs to occw in time for an inspection to be scheduled prior to snow <br />wver of the mine site. <br />
