(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1978-352
INSPECTION DATE 9/24/02
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was preformed at the request of the operator for possible financial surety reduction and final grading approval.
Mr. John Martin, company representative accompanied the inspector to the permitted site. The Eagle Pit is located along side
the Eagle River, between the towns of Eagle and Gypsum. Access to the site is from Highway US 6. The pit is in full
reclamation with all mining activities accomplished.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12. The sign
is a homemade plywood variety located at the entrance to the pit. Pit boundary markers consist of fencing along the south,
west and east edges and daylights out above the river to the north.
All grading and sloping has been accomplished. Slopes are 2H:1 V or better per the approved plan. Topsoil has been returned
to disturbed area to what appears to be the approved depth.
Contouring of the disturbed area tends to channel water away from the daylighted edge along the eastern side and toward the
west. This has helped minimize the possibilities of erosional impacts to the river below at its closest point. An irrigation ditch
runs parallel to the northern edge and appears to catch any run off. No erosion or storm water issues are noted. There was
no off site damage obseved.
The site has been seeded and mulched as required. Wheatgrasses and some rice grass were observed. New growth along
the pit floor was observed coming up from underneath the mulching materials. Straw and wood chips aze the primary mulching
materials and appear to be being applied at 2 to 3 tons per acre. The slopes appear to have the same type of grasses growing
but with lesser success. Some rabbit brush and sage were noted as having begun to reintroduce onto the slopes as well. The
only issue may be whether the barley within the mulch mix will out compete the approved grass mix. The operator will need
to monitor species growth to assure a diverse grass population.
The current bond is set at $38,000.00 and appears to be adequate for the remaining reclamation. A bond update will be done
taking in to account the current conditions and any changes will be forwarded to the operator.
No other issues or problems were noted at the time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME John Martin
OPERATOR Roaring Fork Resources
STREET P.O.
