Mean vegetative cover for the New Pryor Mine site was 31.6 percent, with a baze soil mean of
43.6 percent. Litter, rocks, and other materials had a mean value of 24.8 percent. In order to
achieve sample adequacy, 5.8 transects were necessary. Five transects were collected with a
standazd deviation of 3.577. Due to time constraints and site observation, the Division considers that
sufficient transects were collected to represent conditions on the reclaimed site.
The 5'/z acres of reclaimed mine site was dominated by perennial grasses and forbs. Agropyron
trachycaulum (7.2 percent absolute cover and 23 percent relative cover) and Stipa viridulo
(4.8 percent absolute value and 15.2 percent relative cover) were the most dominant of the grasses.
Both of the above-mentioned plants aze natives of Colorado, along with quite a few other thriving
plants. Although we did not hit any rabbit brush or four wing salt bush while doing the transects,
these species were observed throughout. Woody plant density was not collected, as it is not required
for this sampling.
At the site we observed a few rills and a gully. The rills we observed were small and no more than
three inches deep. The rills did not extend more than 10 or 12 feet because the contour furrows
stopped them from becoming lazger. The gully that was observed was 15 to 18 inches deep. The
gully follows the eastern sediment collection ditch and flows into the double ponds, so no sediment
leaves the site.
The topography of the site is rolling hills with low to moderate slope gradients ranging from 8 to
14 percent. This site is composed of north-, south-, east- and west-facing slopes.
U`IEWPRYOR.TBL
